With a third on the way me and the wife are looking at three row vehicles and we both want to avoid SUVs and our first choice the Mazda 5 is no longer in production so I’m curious if anyone still makes a three row wagon.

I asked the same question back when we learned we were having twins to add to our first. We ended up with an ‘03 Odyssey and have been very pleased with it.

By what stretch of the imagination is this a wagon?

I don’t dislike the Odyssey but my understanding is they are notorious for transmission failures which scares me.

A long one.

It fits this part though:
me and the wife are looking at three row vehicles and we both want to avoid SUVs

I have heard similar stories, but we have had zero problems with ours (knock on wood) with minimal service other than scheduled maintenance. We did, however, have a leaking main seal, but we got a great deal on having it repaired since the dealership sorta kinda caused it.

Focus C-max is close in concept to the Mazda 5.

Model S aside, while Volvo dropped the factory 3rd row on XC70 for 2014, I see some stuff indicating that you can get it installed as a dealer option for ~$1500 (or see if you could pick up an older model with the option).

Not offered with a third row in Murica.

Not a wagon, but neither is the Mazda5.

I believe C-Max only comes in *hushed tone* hybrid form in the US

If you classify the first generation Dacia Logan MCV as a wagon you can still get it in Russia (and maybe in Colombia). You probably don’t want it though.

it’s so awesome, it doesn’t have to be.

Oh, the E-class wagon is available with a third row as well:

I did not know they had this!

I never said the 5 was. I just asked what wagons are in production with a third row.

Maybe I’m alone but I don’t think the Model S is that awesome, especially not as a family vehicle and even more so at the price they charge for it.

Aside from the Tesla Model S, the only other options I can think of are the Kia Rondo (as an option) and the Ford Transit Connect wagon:

Rondo is no longer available in the states of Murica.

Well then the solution is obvious... you’re just gonna have to move to Canada...

Why is it a bad family vehicle? It seats 6 or 7 (not sure how big the rear seat is), plus the frunk. As for the price, do you know how fast it is? That alone is worth the price of admission. It’s also very technological, modern looking, and it’s constantly being updated by the manufacturer.

I don’t imagine being able to actually fit a lot in there with an actual family in the car.
